Sometimes an act of destruction is an act of creation. I picked up this 1949 Remington Rand from a Goodwill years ago. It’s never worked. Too much time in a hostile environment. Too much rust in its belly. I am using it to revive two Remington Rand Streamliners. I used its platen for my Streamliner. Other parts are going to a friend’s typewriter. The remaining parts—springs, screws, and joints—will be used to save other machines in the future. This is the first time I’ve completely dismantled a typewriter. I am sorry that it’s history will be lost, and I can’t help but wonder who loved it in the past.
