  1. I know exactly what you mean. In a certain state of mind, those things can become scary, especially to a kid…as I recall.

    Also, we (wife and self) were discussing “darkly” yesterday, deciding it was invented by Thomas Hardy, The Darkling Thrush. I haven’t come across any precedents.
