That is some amazing country. I can’t even tell whether I like the color or the black and white shots more–they seem to show the same landscape via different states of consciousness. The raven’s pretty amazing too.
Yeah. In this case some of the paved trails are intended for conservationist purposes, but I still dislike them. That said, I saw some bikers having fun.
Beautiful! My Dad landscaped his yard with rocks, some of them volcanic from the west Mesa of ABQ, others heavy petrified logs, from before the area was protected as a National Park.
I’d like to improve my backyard, but haven’t yet found an aesthetic solution. I don’t want to spend much money on a rental. A rock garden would be nice.

I have trouble capturing scale out here. Everything is so big, but a pool of sand and a vast desert look the same in a photo!

Beautiful. Those parks look like another planet. If you ever get the opportunity for a private flight over them they are really spectacular.
Whenever I hear paved or developed in a National Park I think of Edward Abbey’s adamant disliking of the industrialzation of the National Parks.

I understand paving to prevent erosion, but still: paving.
In regards to perspective in photos, I often wonder if an 11″ x 14″ or larger view camera would do justice to the vast landscapes of the West.

I do want to buy a new lens, but I need to do some research. I’d like to spend less than $300. Some of those lenses cost a grand.
