My reply could be as long as your post. I often wonder the same why entertainers, CEOs, and athletes are woefully overpaid while people with important jobs are under paid. I speak from experience as a former firefighter and community college instructor. I don’t like working in industry, but I sure get paid many times over what I could earn in the fire service or in education.

One more thing: there ought to be heavy financial penalties against politicians during shutdowns. That was outrageous.

Yep. If ordinary federal employees don’t get paid, neither should elected representatives.
