After a day of teaching, grading papers, and preparing lesson plans, I put on some work-conducive music (lately Philip Glass or Django Reinhardt) and get to work on Cold Hard Type. As a person who is easily distracted, I create environments that intensify my focus. (I rarely can read or write in public unless a given project requires superficial work.) At home, I dim the lights and get to work. A big key to enhancing one’s life is knowing one’s limitations. So, this is a photo of my nightly routine as I read submissions. One curious development is that I lately have had trouble typing smoothly. This past weekend, however, my typing improved after grading papers–routine, I guess.
