That is a situation. The fans can’t watch the game unless they have their phone. One, because the stadium depends/requires that you have one to present a ticket confirmation, and two, the fan is unable to actually enjoy the game unless they are immersed in the phone’s blue screen of death. I wonder, do they — at times — look up to watch the game?
People feel compelled to document the fact that they were there. A few photos is fine, but there is a point when the behavior becomes absurd. They spent money to go to the event; then, by staying glued to their phones the whole time, they are mentally absent.
