Here in Italy, when mafia boss Bernardo Provenzano was arrested in 2006, they found an Olivetti portable in his home, which he used to write mail and give orders to his people.
I used to run into Mark Winegardner, the author of The Godfather Returns. I never read it, so I don’t know if the Corleones are part of the storyline. Still, pretty neat.
I’m also looking forward to The Irishman. Scorsese is one of the greatest living auteur directors, and who wouldn’t be excited about a Scorsese film with DeNiro, Pacino, Pesci, and Keitel? God, if those four were in it, I might even watch “Hangover IV.”
Don’t know about Miller’s Crossing, but I’d be surprised if typewriters didn’t feature prominently in several Coen Brothers films, as they do in Barton Fink.

Hm. Fascinating! I guess he developed codes from his Bible: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/1528376/FBI-called-in-to-crack-Mafia-bosss-Bible-code.html

The cry of the fishmongers. Hudsucker Proxy is full of typewriters, as is the second season of Fargo.

As far as Scorsese goes, I think there are typewriters in Taxi Driver. I would have liked to have seen a deadly gang of typists in Gangs of New York.

That would have been interesting, but a bit anachronistic!
