Today was the first day of classes. All in all, they went well. First days are always a bit stuffy: cover the major parts of the syllabus and discuss the schedule, assignments, and expectations. A bit boring, but clarity is important.
This evening I put some work into revamping my writing area. The plot in my short story is convoluted enough to require a bigger work space. I need to see what I’m thinking.

So far, so good. These are mostly notes. No real scenes yet, albeit I tried to think through the opening scene a bit more. I might have some traction. At this point I should just keep writing. Fix structural and ideational problems later on.

This was pretty good for a workday. Hopefully I can do some more writing on weeknights. Now for some pipe tobacco before hitting the sack. The night is cool and thoughtful.

I like your story, looking forward to reading the finished work.

Thanks, Joe. I can’t ignore it when it’s all over the wall!

Nice excerpt from what I believer will be an interesting story.
I like your work area.

Thanks, Bill. I might just wallpaper the place in scribbles and call it a day.

I haven’t gotten my own story much past the starting line yet. Too many distractions. We will see …

My main concern is keeping the thread in my head. Once I begin grading papers, I have a hard time doing my own work.
I’d really like to bang out the story-line before we don our editing hats!
