I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve never read Keeler, although I guess that isn’t surprising at all given the mission of your newsletter. That’s a great presentation–layout, images, etc. If you were to recommend some Keeler for a newbie, what would it be?
Kugelberg does justice to Flann. One minor point about geography. His birthplace is certainly “north of Dublin,” as in all way up in Northern Ireland. I wonder if Joyce overshadowed Flann once again. An easy mistake to make.
5+5+research is a serious workload, but I hope you’re enjoying returning to scholarship.
I learned of Flann O’Brien in the ’90s through an article contributed to a newsletter I’ve long published on eccentric mystery writer Harry Stephen Keeler.
