I love the country of origin.
We have had the haze for 2 weeks here.

Read an article about the inevitable relocation of people from fire, drought, and hurricane areas. It will rival the Great Migration—in a few decades, that is.

Powerful. I think your new environs are making an impact.
Just this morning I stood under a railway bridge and listened to the “iron scream” of a freight train overhead. It was cathartic.

Strange in that is loud and soothing. There aren’t a lot of sounds like that.

I was thinking of toying with a little Canterbury Tales, different RVers representing different monologues. We’ll see if I stick with it.

  3. Be careful it’s not Pandora’s box you are opening, though maybe your point is that there is nothing left to destroy. I’ll think about that. Always interesting.

Thanks, Rob. Just having some fun with myths and allusions. I suppose everything at the end of time has no consequences. Good point.

Reminds me of the Amtrak ride we took from ABQ to Winslow, when we stayed at the La Posada and I sat out back, cigar and typewriter at hand, watching the freight trains endlessly roll through, boxcars adorned with graffiti and the logos of Asian shipping magnates, an endless caravan of consumer goods heading to the heartland, empty boxes and landfills left in their wake.

That sounds like a great trip. My girlfriend loves a train trip. I’ll have to do some research.
