I’ve always been amazed at how song birds and Canada Geese migrate from the great white North to Florida, Texas, and beyond. I was in High School until I learned about the migration of Monarch Butterflies; even more amazing. A tiny insect flies from the North American Continent all the way to Mexico for the winter.

Mrs. M misses the wintering birds of FL.

Are you near the TX coast? One of the 5 best bird watching places the USA.

I’m about three hours from Corpus Christi, I think. I’ve never been on the Texas coast. Is it very different from the rest of the Gulf bird-wise?

I recall checking on my Monarch facts when I wrote my first story for CHT. I placed them into a scene. Then I recalled their migration patterns. I had to make sure it was the right season in New Hampshire. I always enjoyed watching them as I grew up.

I am astonished by the migration of Hummingbirds. I believe they hung around California longer this year–global warming.

I miss the Anhingas and Ibises in Florida, but that damned heat! It’s funny. I thought that Florida would have held a stronger grip on my thoughts over the last several months. I barely think about it. Now it looks like Ivanka is eyeballing Rubio’s seat. The locals in Florida aren’t too excited about Trump’s permanent residence.

Republican politics, a good reason not to live in FL.
From what we were told from one of the bird watcher dinners in FL, the Gulf Coast is a great place for bird watching. The speaker was the fellow from the Big Year movie.

I wasn’t aware of that film. Any good?

I’ve never been very observant about birds. Thanks for that photo of the cedar waxwing with its amazing little red wing tips. Yes, if only we could behave like good guests …
