I started with a pair of those long oval ones with the tail. Wood with leather webbing. Then I switched the the more rounded oval without the wood tail. The latter were much easier to use. With all the new ones out there I don’t know which I’d buy. I still like the old wood and leather ones. I didn’t think it was difficult to learn to walk in them. I do know they all have a weight limit. I’d check REI they usually have a lot of information on what they sell.
Beautiful sunset.
Seems you had a successful day of hiking in spite of the snow.
Have you ever tried snowshoes?

I want to pick some up. Trying to find a decent pair. Lots of plastic stuff out there. Do you have any recommendations?
