Prepping Typewriters for the Classroom (photos included)

I cleaned up twenty typewriters today. Most are in great shape. About half need new ink. Luckily my department ordered ribbons for me. My AMC has problems. The carriage lever, which always collided with the typewriter cover, broke off. I think a previous owner placed a heavy object on the machine. That said, what remains of the lever now makes the typewriter functional. The other issue is that the carriage sticks when I employ uppercase. It doesn’t drop down on its own. I’ll fiddle with it more, but I may have to turn to my reserves for a replacement. Other than that, my Royalite is not a great typer. Still, I have a decent inventory for class now.

Great to see Typewriters in the Classroom.

I read each of your posts but like many blogs my comments often go into cyberland never to be seen.

    Hope this one makes it.

Hm. I’m sorry I didn’t see your comments. I wonder why they haven’t appeared.

In any case, I hope all is well. I suppose you’ve been getting some of that smoky air. Let’s get through this summer asap.
