Waverley. We were tourists. We got separated in the castle. Time passed. I didn’t know what to do, as we had not secured a hotel and had only just arrived from the train. I looked and looked, grew frustrated, and figured she would backtrack to the station. We had no cell phones. She finally found me.
Side note: I was thinking of Samuel Beckett’s play, Krapp’s Last Take. It begins with the stage direction, “A late evening in the future,” but there is no way for to the audience to realize that timeline.
You are from Edinburgh, right? If I had my druthers, I’d live in Scotland.
Nagg and Nell know something about cans. Ba dum dum. I have an essay in an Edinburgh U Press book on Beckett. I was on the hunt for an Irish Lit job for a while. Tough market to crack.
Was that Waverley station or Haymarket? Details! 😉
A thoughtful poem.

Well, I live in Edinburgh, but hail from Dundee, an hour and a half or so up the coast.
Big Beckett can too.
