Star Glow Metal Cleaner: For Tarnished and Rusty Metal

on

Last December, my girlfriend and I were strolling around the nearby festival mall to do some holiday shopping. Near the end of the day, we ran into a slick salesman working from a kiosk. This guy’s whole presentation reeked of over confidence and snake oil. He illustrated his product, a metal cleaner, on my girlfriend’s Indian jewelry. After some brief application and polishing, the metal looked amazing. This was legit. What popped into my mind? This could work on restoring typewriters. I have not tried it until tonight. This is a 1924 Urania standard with a Dutch keyboard. As you can see from the photos, the polish works very well. In fact, it removed black marker from one of the decals while the leaving decal untouched.

I’ve got to give Star Glow a try. I generally use Bright Boy (liquid) metal polish. the paste looks easier to use.

It is very easy. Could be cheaper, but it will last a while.
