Thanks to Richard Polt, my Blickensderfer 5 now has all of its keys.
I put some more work into it today. The carriage slides smoothly. The type wheel responds quickly. Now I need to replace the ink roller. I managed to type a little tonight, but the letters are too faint. Still, this machine is showing improvements. I shortened the spring for the ink roller to quicken its action. Even Murphy was impressed.
If I can re-cover the platen and rollers, this machine will look pretty nice. Receiving the D, H, and S keys really makes up for the Boston Bruins losing today.
Murphy, however, was a bit mystified by the Henry James stamps, being more of a James Joyce fan.
