The Florida news media is like an endless loop tape during storms. They only know a few lines with a very limited vocabulary. I doubt any of them would have passed any of the news classes with the professors I had. We were expected to report, not sensationalize. Write, not make a quick punch line. Heaven forbid if we used the same phrase more than once in a story.
Beer is fine, just go t Publix and get some dry ice.
Nary a hunkerer there be. Personally, I’m a fan of General Quarters ! Set condition zebra throughout the ship.
On a serious note. Be wary. I was watching the news last night and this looks like a good one. Is that even appropriate language? My kids, their kids and younger brother all reside in the state too, so I have a special interest in all of this. I’ll give you their addresses so you can share your beer stores with them. They have typewriters too – keep those comm lines open.
Ha. Speaking of which, I ordered a solar-powered radio from Amazon, but it won’t get here on time. Oh well. Good luck to your family. Those who have typewriters and guitars are the future.
Michael,
You reminded me of what I forgot in my comment.
Batten down the hatches!
I learned that in childhood from my Uncle, a career sailor.
When the storm hits, Batten down the hatches!
Sounds so much better than hunker — what ever a hunker is.
Very amusing! Twerk down, buddy.

My students are hoping for a day or two off; I’m hoping to avoid changing my syllabi. That’s the worst.

One of the things I miss most about Colorado: inexpensive Guinness.
