Not sure what happened to my reply, but I’ve had WP problems before.

You bring up some good points. One thing with vehicles — if you have 2 park them facing each other as close as possible away from trees, power lines, flying anything; or park your vehicle facing the building as close to the building (like in front of the garage door) as
possible. This will help prevent flying debris from impaling the radiator.

I used to use Sterno folding aluminum stoves and Sterno fuel.
Sterno can be used indoors, carefully. I used it on top of the washer in the garage, The garage was not as sealed as the house. I also always had a good working fire extinguisher within reach.

Hurricanes rotate in a COUNTER clockwise rotation in the Northern Hemisphere, The NorthEast quadrant is the most dangerous.

Whoops. I’m not sure what I was thinking there. Counter clockwise. My car is tucked between two cars. I don’t have many options, but I chose a spot less likely to get hit by the big trees. I tend to eat my food cold, which is just as well given the heat outside. That’s what most people complain about here. There’s no sleeping without AC.

Good luck riding out the storm – though it sounds like this ain’t yer first rodeo. Your post is a window into a world that many are not familiar with – hurricane country. Stay dry and type on!
