   Congratulations on the fine typewriter. I often wondered the same about the plastic return lever. I got to type on my first one at a type-in last year. They are superb typewriters.

      Thanks, Bill. From what I can gather, there are metal rods hidden in the lever. An aesthetic choice, I guess, making the lever match the body.

      Tomorrow I’m on a road trip for an Optima. I never see those in the wild.
